Matthew Modine, Tom Conti sign up for 'Batman: The Dark Knight Rises'

Matthew Modine, Tom Conti and Joey King have all been added to the cast of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. Full Metal Jacket star Modine will play a character named Nixon in the sequel, although details of Conti and 11-year-old King's roles are still under wraps, reports Variety.com.

The trio join a cast which already includes Christian Bale - who is reprising his role as Bruce Wayne in the superhero franchise - Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman.

Anne Hathaway is playing Catwoman in the film, with Tom Hardy taking on the role of Bane.

Meanwhile, Social Network star Josh Pence signed on to appear as a younger version of villain Ra's Al Ghul last month.

Principal photography on the Christopher Nolan-helmed movie began in areas of London, including Croydon, earlier this week.

Other locations for the film are rumoured to include areas of Scotland and India, along with Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and New York.
