Michael Bay: ''Transformers 2' was crap'
Director admits to making mistakes on robot sequel
Transformers 2 director Michael Bay has slammed his own movie, branding it "crap". The 2009 sci-fi robot sequel, which starred Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, was poorly received by critics. Now Bay has admitted that the film was not good enough.
Talking to Empire, the director placed most of the blame on the Hollywood writers' strike. "We made some mistakes," he said. "The real fault was that it ran into a mystical world. When I look back on it, that was crap. The writers' strike was coming hard and fast. It was just terrible to do a movie where you've got to have a story in three weeks."
He added: "I was prepping a movie for months where I only had 14 pages of some idea of what the movie was. It was a BS [bullshit] way to make a movie, do you know what I’m saying?"
However, Bay insists that the forthcoming Transformers 3 will revitalise the franchise.
