Morgan Freeman is set to appear opposite Scarlett Johansson in a new sci-fi movie from Luc Besson - director of The Fifth Element.

Titled Lucy, the film will star Johansson as a woman who gains super powers after a highly-specialised drug enters her system while she's working as a drug mule. Her new abilities include telekinesis, clairvoyance and a capacity for disregarding pain and emotion at will.

According to The Wrap, Freeman is "in negotiations" to play a professor who specialises in evolution and the functions of the human brain. Johansson's Lucy finds herself on a mission to track him down before she dies.

Besson will direct from his own script and shooting is due to begin once Johansson finishes work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which went into production this April.

Freeman, who recently racked up internet traffic after falling asleep during a live TV interview, is currently filming a sci-fi film called Transcendence with Johnny Depp and Cillian Murphy. He'll next grace the big screen in Now You See Me, a crime flick which opens in cinemas on July 3. Scroll down and click 'play' to watch the trailer.
