Morgan Freeman was asked to recite the dictionary of "twerking" in his distinctive gravelly voice on US TV yesterday morning.
The raunchy dance move, which has hit the headlines in recent days due to Miley Cyrus's much-discussed performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, has just been added to the Oxford English Dictionary in its quarterly update.
During an appearance on US daytime show Morning Express yesterday (August 28), the Oscar-winning actor was asked to deliver a run-through of the day's news - which included a story about twerking.
"The word 'twerking' has now been added to the Oxford Dictionary," Freeman explained soberly. "Here's the dictionary definition they gave: to dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance." Host Robin Meade then asked Freeman about the often jiggly dance move, to which he replied: "It's the first time I've ever heard of it."
