'Mrs Doubtfire' sequel in development
Robin Williams will reprise role as Scottish nanny, say reports
A sequel to Mrs Doubtfire is in the work, according to reports.
The Wrap says that studio Fox 2000 are developing the project, which will be written by Elf scribe David Berenbaum. The star of the original comedy, Robin Williams, is set to reprise his role as Daniel Hillard in the picture.
Harry Potter filmmaker Chris Columbus will be in the director's chair. The 1993 original was a box office hit upon its release, taking in an estimated $441 million worldwide. The film saw Williams disguise himself as an elderly Scottish nanny in order to look after his children. Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan co-starred, as did Matilda actress Mara Wilson.
Williams, who won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Good Will Hunting in 1997, is currently starring as Simon Roberts in the US TV comedy The Crazy Ones. He also portrayed US President Dwight Eisenhower in last year's historical drama The Butler.
