Neil Patrick Harris joins bumper cast of Seth MacFarlane's new comedy western film
Liam Neeson, Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried and Sarah Silverman are all signed up too
Neil Patrick Harris is the latest big name to sign up for A Million Ways To Die In The West, Seth MacFarlane's follow-up to Ted.
The How I Met Your Mother star joins a stellar ensemble cast that already includes Liam Neeson, Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Sarah Silverman and Giovanni Ribisi. As well as starring in the comedy western film, MacFarlane will direct from a script he co-wrote with his Ted collaborators Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild.
MacFarlane will star as a cowardly chicken farmer who gets dumped by his girlfriend, played by Seyfried, and looks to Theron's character, a mysterious new woman in town, to teach him courage. Neeson will appear as the newcomer's outlaw husband, who turns up unexpectedly and tests the farmer's new-found courage.
Universal Pictures has set the film to open in US cinemas on May 30, 2014, ComingSoon.net reports, though the UK release date has yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, MacFarlane has recently confirmed that "everybody involved" wants to make Ted 2, though nothing is officially in the works yet. He has also expressed an interest in bringing Family Guy to the big screen, saying it's "just a matter of when".
