A new clip from The Bourne Legacy has appeared online - scroll down to watch it.

The action-packed teaser shows Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross rescuing Rachel Weisz's Dr Stephanie Snyder from gun-toting policeman in a rooftop chase sequence - a signature of the Bourne movies.

The Bourne Legacy is the first film in the series not to feature Matt Damon's Jason Bourne character. The new sequel stars Renner as a CIA agent dealing with the aftermath of events in the previous Bourne films. Weisz and Edward Norton also star, while Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Albert Finney all reprise their roles from previous instalments.

The Bourne Legacy is directed by Tony Gilroy, who takes over from Paul Greengrass having earned his stripes as a screenwriter on the three previous Bourne films. Collectively, 2002's The Bourne Identity, 2004's The Bourne Supremacy and 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum grossed more than $945million (£602 million) at the box office worldwide.

The Bourne Legacy opens in the US on August 10 and in the UK three days later. Last month (June), series producer Frank Marshall revealed that the new film does not preclude a future return from Damon. He explained: "You see there are several different programmes in the movie with different skill sets. All possibilities are open. My dream is that in the next one we see Matt and Jeremy team up."
