New image of Karen Gillan in 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' revealed
'Doctor Who' actress will play villainous character Nebula
A new image of Karen Gillan in the forthcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy has been revealed.
The picture, which you can see at the top of the screen, was posted on Instagram by the film's director James Gunn. The filmmaker described Gillan's character, the villainous Nebula, as "our interplanetary Clint Eastwood".
Guardians Of The Galaxy centres on a team of superheroes – including Star-Lord, Drax The Destroyer and Rocket Raccoon – who appear in a 2008 comic book series of the same name. Marvel is hoping it will kickstart another big screen franchise like The Avengers when it opens in cinemas on August 1, 2014.
It was reported recently that Marvel are already discussing a sequel to the film, which could potentially be released on May 6, 2016 – a date which has been reserved for an unannounced project by Marvel, and would come shortly after a Guardians Of The Galaxy cartoon series premieres on Disney XD in autumn 2015. Marvel, however, have not yet commented on the reports.
Guardians Of The Galaxy boasts a bumper cast including John C Reilly, Bradley Cooper, Benicio Del Toro, Parks And Recreation actor Chris Pratt, and Vin Diesel. Director Gunn began shooting the film in July last year (2013).
