A new trailer for Oculus, the horror flick featuring Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan, has been revealed – click below to watch.

Gillan, who played the Doctor's companion Amy Pond in the BBC show before leaving in 2012, will take on the lead role of Kaylie Russell in the film, which is directed by Mike Flanagan and co-stars Brenton Thwaites.

Oculus, which will open in the US on April 11 and the UK on June 13, focuses on Kaylie's attempts to prove her brother Tim innocent of murdering their parents, while simultaneously battling supernatural forces which invade their childhood home.

Gillan is also set to star in Marvel Studios' new superhero movie Guardians Of The Galaxy. She is set to play the lead female villain in the movie (although details of her character are yet to be revealed) and will be part of an ensemble cast that already includes Glenn Close, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt from Parks And Recreation, The Walking Dead's Michael Rooker and John C Reilly.

Guardians Of The Galaxy will follow a team of superheroes – including Star-Lord, Drax The Destroyer and Rocket Raccoon – who appear in a 2008 comic book series of the same name. Marvel is hoping the film will kickstart another big screen franchise like The Avengers.
