Henry Cavill has promised that his portrayal of Superman in the forthcoming Man Of Steel film will have a vulnerable side.
Speaking to Total Film about taking on the iconic role for the flick, which is being helmed by Watchmen and 300 directed Zack Snyder, Cavill insisted that fans will be able to relate to the newest incarnation of the character.
"This is not a movie about Zack Snyder directing something, or Henry Cavill playing a character," he said. "It's a selfless movie about a character who is going through what he is going through. He wants to do the right thing, but he's fallible, like the rest of us. He messes up, and that makes us love him more."
Cavill also shared his excitement about playing the famous superhero, adding: "I loved wearing the suit! You put it on every morning and you feel fantastic. I mean, you're wearing a Superman suit, for goodness sake!"
Previously, Cavill has nsisted that Man Of Steel offers a new slant on the Superman story. He explained: "I don't mean anything against the movies and TV shows that have come before, because they were of their time, but this is epically cool. People in the past have criticised the character for being a bit chocolate box, a bit vanilla, and this is not that - at all."
Alongside Cavill, Man Of Steel boasts a bumper ensemble cast including Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as the villainous General Zod and Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Superman's biological father. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane will play his adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent.
The film's script has been written by David S Goyer, whose previous credits include Batman Begins and Jumper. Man Of Steel will open in cinemas on June 14, 2013.
