New 'The Dark Knight Rises' trailer to debut at 'Avengers Assemble'
Third trailer will be shown before the Marvel superhero movie
A new The Dark Knight Rises trailer will debut at screenings of Marvel Avengers Assemble.
The third trailer from the third film in director/writer Christopher Nolan's Batman series will preview before Marvel's superhero supergroup movie, which hits UK cinemas this coming Friday (April 27).
According to Deadline, the move looks likely to upset Marvel as Batman is a character from rival company DC Comics.
They spoke to a Warner Brothers executive, who said: "We see this placement as a good strategic decision. We always want our trailers to be seen with films that people want to see — and a lot of people will be going to The Avengers!”
Both 2D and 3D screenings of Marvel Avengers Assemble, as well as IMAX showings, will be playing the new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises.
This isn't the first time a Batman trailer has been put in front of a Marvel blockbuster. In 2008, the third trailer for The Dark Knight played before screenings of Iron Man.
The Dark Knight Rises, which is released on July 20, is the third and final Batman film by Christopher Nolan. The movie will see the Liam Neeson reprise the role of Ra's Al Ghul alongside a returning Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine. Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway play new characters, Bane and Catwoman.
UK viewers will be able to see the new trailer and Marvel Avengers Assemble a week before their North American counterparts, when the film is released on April 27.
