New trailer for fourth and final ‘Hunger Games’ film released – watch

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2' opens in UK cinemas on November 19

A new trailer for next month’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 has been released.

The official plot synopsis for the concluding chapter in The Hunger Games film series teases: “With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown.

“Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.”

Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson, Natalie Dormer and Elizabeth Banks also reprise their roles from previous films in the series, joined by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman in his final film role. Francis Lawrence, director of the second and third Hunger Games films, returns to direct its fourth and final instalment. The screenplay was written by Danny Strong and Peter Craig, the duo who also penned last year’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 opens in UK cinemas on November 19. Last year Frances Lawrence revealed that discussions were taking place about expanding the Hunger Games franchise so that it continues beyond Mockingjay – Part 2 in some form, but nothing is official yet.
