Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel speak about dangerous 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' stunts - video
Jerry Bruckheimer also talks to NME about new film
Jerry Bruckheimer, Nicolas Cage, Alfred Molina, and Jay Baruchel have revealed the most dangerous stunts involved in the making of their new film The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Cage stars in the movie as Balthazar Blake, a master sorcerer in Manhattan who tries to defeat his arch rival Maxim Horvath, played by Molina, and defend the city. Blake recruits Dave Stutler (Baruchel) as his protégé and helps him to realise his magical powers.
Speaking to NME in a video interview you can watch on the right, producer Bruckheimer explained how difficult it was to film the car chase scenes: “It rained 38 days straight days in New York, so we’re on these slick streets, it’s a busy area, it’s late at night. It’s very dangerous."
Meanwhile, Alfred Molina described being catapulted towards the roof and "trapped up against the ceiling" during one of the fight scenes as his most daring scene so far, while Cage and Baruchel also had their share of stunts.
Directed by Jon Turteltaub and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is out in cinemas on Wednesday (August 11).
