'Officer And A Gentleman' star Lisa Blount dies

Actress Lisa Blount, best known for her role in An Officer And A Gentleman, has died aged 53. Blount was found dead at her Arkansas home on Wednesday (October 27), reports Reuters. Her cause of death has not been released to the public, but it is believed she suffered from a condition similar to multiple sclerosis.

She played Lynette Pomeroy in the 1982 movie and received a Golden Globe nomination.

Blount was dubbed one of horror's 'scream Queens' after starring in a number of the genres movies, including John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness.

She would eventually focus on work behind the camera rather than in front of it, and in 2001 received an Oscar for producing the live action short film The Accountant.

Blount recently filmed the pilot for TV show Outlaw Country.
