Oliver Platt joins 'X Men: First Class' cast
Shooting for next part in the franchise starts next month
Actor Oliver Platt is the latest name to be added to the cast of Matthew Vaughn's X Men: First Class. The actor, who appeared in Frost/Nixon, will portray The Man In Black, who is neither a mutant nor a villain, reports BBC News.
Platt joins British actor Jason Flemyng in the growing cast for the film.
In addition to Australian actress Rose Byrne, the film also stars James McAvoy as Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and Edi Gathegi as Darwin.
Kevin Bacon will play an unnamed villain.
Despite the film's growing profile, director Matthew Vaughn recently claimed that the superhero genre had been "mined to death" following a series of films in the genre.
