Oscars security on high alert ahead of tonight's (February 24) ceremony
A private security company have been handed information on known stalkers
Oscars security is said to be on high alert ahead of tonight's (February 24) 85th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
According to TMZ, sources have told the US gossip website that the LAPD have added an "extra knot" to their security plans for the ceremony because of the fatal shootings that have rocked the US in recent months.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that the LAPD have given private security firm Security Industry Specialists (SIS) an information pack containing details of all known stalkers. The pack contains facts and photographs of the stalkers, which have been distributed to security at the ceremony.
This year's Oscars take place tonight (February 24) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Family Guy creator MacFarlane was named as host back in October after Ted, which he wrote and directed, became one of last year's biggest hits.
The 85th Academy Awards ceremony will also feature Adele, who will give the first ever live performance of her hit Bond theme 'Skyfall', which is favourite to win the Best Original Song award.
