Peter Morgan to quit James Bond?
Frost/Nixon writer reportedly quit after Sam Mendes was hired to direct
Peter Morgan, the Oscar-winning writer of the next James Bond film, has apparently quit the project. Morgan - whose credits include Frost/Nixon, The Queen and The Last King of Scotland - decided to stop working on the film after Sam Mendes was hired to direct the picture, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Oscar-winner Mendes, who recently split with Kate Winslet - his actress wife of almost seven years - had been recruited to direct the film in January.
Mendes is said to be hoping to hire Patrick Marber to replace Morgan, the acclaimed playwright and screenwriter of Notes On A Scandal, Closer and former star of The Day Today.
The reason behind the apparent walkout has not been revealed however, with a source telling The Telegraph: "It is a mystery worthy of a Bond script."
