‘Punisher’: Ben Barnes cast as a villain on 'Daredevil' spin-off show

The latest Marvel TV series has cast its first villain

Ben Barnes has been cast as a villain on Netflix and Marvel’s forthcoming TV show The Punisher.

Barnes is best known for his role as Prince Caspian in the Chronicles of Narnia franchise and is also staring in HBO’s new series Westworld.

Netflix recently announced that it has commissioned a spin-off show based around The Punisher, a character from the second season of its Marvel Universe TV show Daredevil.

Frank Castle aka The Punisher made his Marvel Comics debut in 1974 and has previously been played on screen by actors including Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson.



Jon Bernthal is expected to reprise his role for in the sister series, which will see Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) act as showrunner, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Netflix's adaptation of the character into a new show will mark the sixth Marvel adaptation that's been put together for the platform, following on from Daredevil, Jessica Jones and the still to be launched Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.
