Ridley Scott has announced that the script for a prequel to his 1979 film Alien is ready. Speaking at the Los Angeles Times Hero Complex Film Festival, Scott declared: "It's written. I'm prepping it now."
The director gave several hints about the new prequels, including that filming might commence as early as January 2011 and that 3D filming techniques might be used.
He also said the setting would take place 30 years prior to the original film, giving him space for a second prequel.
Discussing the film, Scott explained: "I sat thinking about the franchise which died on the road way back and lying in the dust and I thought, 'What I should do is go back. . .'"
