Seth MacFarlane could follow 'Ted' with comedy Western

Seth MacFarlane's next film project could be a comedy Western called A Million Ways To Die.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, MacFarlane has scripted the film with his Ted co-writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. Sources say that MacFarlane is also planning to direct and star in the movie, though no contracts have been inked yet.

A Million Ways To Die will apparently be set in the late 1800s, but the script is said to have "contemporary humour" in MacFarlane's trademark racy style. The Hollywood Reporter notes that there is also a role for a "romantic female lead".

MacFarlane made his directorial debut with this year's Ted, a hit comedy film about a foul-mouthed, hard-drinking teddy bear. Following the success of the movie, which has now grossed over $500 million (£310 million) worldwide, MacFarlane has been hired to host next year's Oscars.

Meanwhile, he recently confirmed plans to make a Family Guy film, saying that it was "just a matter of when". He also has guest role on The Simpsons coming up.
