Simon Cowell is to make a movie about the dancing dog from Britain's Got Talent.

Cowell's company Syco has teamed up with Vertigo Films, the makers of StreetDance 3D and Monsters, to co-produce Pudsey: The Movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it will be a fictional film about the dog's life intended for a family audience.

Shooting will begin this spring and Cowell plans to have the film in cinemas in time for Christmas. Pudsey's trainer Ashleigh Butler will appear alongside her pooch, though perhaps just in a series of cameos.

Ashleigh and Pudsey became famous when they danced to The Flintstones theme tune on Britain's Got Talent last year (2012). The pair went on to win the series and have since performed on America's Got Talent and The Jay Leno Show.

Meanwhile, Cowell and Syco are working on several other film projects, including a Paul Potts biopic starring James Corden and the One Direction 3D movie, which is being directed by Morgan Spurlock.
