Simon Pegg and Nick Frost to guest star on cartoon show's Halloween special

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will guest star in a Halloween special episode of the Disney cartoon Phineas And Ferb. It will mark a return to the screen, in animated form, for their Shaun Of The Dead characters.

Shaun (Pegg) and Ed (Frost) faced off against a zombie invasion armed with a cricket bat and their record collection in Edgar Wright's 2003 film.

Pegg announced their return on Twitter: "Here’s news, @nickjfrost and myself will be once again stepping into Shaun and Ed’s shoes for the #PhineasAndFerb Halloween special. W00t!!"

Phineas And Ferb first aired in 2007 and follows the goofy exploits of Phineas Flynn and his stepbrother Ferb Fletcher. The characters have also appeared in genre-mashing specials with Marvel's superheroes and a Star Wars spin-off.

Pegg and Frost found fame in director Edgar Wright's stoner sitcom Spaced which Pegg co-wrote with Jessica Stevenson. Beginning with Shaun Of The Dead the trio went on to make Hot Fuzz (2007) and The World's End (2013).

Known as the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, each film featured an appropriately flavoured ice cream to symbolise the theme. Strawberry for the gore of Shaun, the blue original cornetto for the police in Hot Fuzz and the green of the mint chic chip as a nod to aliens in The World's End.
