Skrillex has been turned into a computer-animated character for an upcoming Disney film called Wreck-It Ralph.
The electronic producer and DJ landed his cameo role after signing up to provide songs for the soundtrack. Wreck-It Ralph follows the behind-the-scenes lives of characters from old school video games, including Pac-Man and Sonic The Hedgehog, and opens in cinemas later this year.
In an interview with Total Film, the movie's producer Clark Spencer explained how Skrillex came to appear in the film. He said: "We asked him if we could do it. We went to him first and said, 'Hey, we have this party scene... and we have a DJ and we think it would make a nice cameo if we put you into it.' And he was ecstatic."
Spencer also revealed that Skrillex was a stickler for accuracy when it came to his depiction on screen. He explained: "We built his model, we put on his look, and we sent it to him to have him give us comments. And he said he would never wear non-black tennis shoes. He said 'My tennis shoes will always be black'. So we changed the tennis shoes to black. You don't see them in the film, as he's behind the DJ booth, but they were in the model. He has seen the animation, and he's very, very excited about it."
Alongside Skrillex, Wreck-It Ralph boasts a voice cast including John C Reilly, Jane Lynch, Sarah Silverman and Jack McBrayer. The film is scheduled for release on November 2 this year (2012) - scroll down to watch the trailer.
