‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ accused of snubbing Little People for dwarf roles

Director Rupert Sanders digitally inserted the faces of famous actors

Snow White And The Huntsman has been criticised for its casting choices by the Little People Of America.

The new fantasy blockbuster offers an alternative take on the classic fairy tale. But while it has proved a box office hit, some people are not happy with the re-imagined dwarves as a gritty group of wanderers.

But the “national non-profit organisation that provides support and information to people of short stature and their families” has criticised filmmakers for passing on little people for the roles.

They told TMZ that Hollywood needs to cast them with more frequency: “This means both casting people will dwarfism as characters that were specifically written to be played by little people… and other roles that would be open to people of short stature”.

In the film, the dwarves are portrayed by a group of respected actors, including Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Brian Gleeson, Ray Winstone, Nick Frost and Johnny Harris. For the film, director Rupert Sanders digitally inserted the actors’ faces on to little people’s bodies.
