Space Station 76 stars Patrick Wilson (Insidious) and Liv Tyler (LOTR Trilogy) in a sci-fi spoof that took a bow at SXSW earlier this year. Think Anchorman meets Airplane. In space.
Also starring Matt Bomer, Mary Coughlan and Jerry O'Connell, veteran TV actor Jack Plotnik's (The Mentalist) debut feature flaunts mutton chop facial hair and flares reminiscent of 70s show Space 1999.
The film's official synopsis calls Space Station 76 "a comedic drama about a group of people (and several robots) living on a space station in a 1970’s-version of the future."
"When a new Assistant Captain arrives, she inadvertently ignites tensions among the crew, prompting them to confront their darkest secrets. Barely contained lust, jealousy, and anger all bubble to the surface, becoming just as dangerous as the asteroid that’s heading right for them."
Sony will be distributing the film but no release date has been set. Check out the trailer for some intergalactic laughs. Welcome to the future of the past.
