'Star Wars' spin offs to include Han Solo and Boba Fett films
Darth Vader could be set to reappear
Disney are working on two spin off films about Han Solo and Boba Fett alongside Star Wars: Episode VII, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Yesterday (February 6) Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that they were working on some stand-alone Star Wars films in addition to Star Wars: Episode VII and it's now been reported that two of these films will focus on these classic Star Wars characters.
Han Solo was a bounty hunter with a conscience who befriended Luke Skywalker and eventually joined the resistance and his spin off will apparently focus "on the wisecracking smuggler’s origin story", while Boba Fett's is described as a "bounty hunter adventure".
According to the report Han Solo's film would be set in the time period between Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope, while the Boba Fett film would take place either between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, or between The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi. This would leave plenty of opportunities to involve characters that would not have been killed yet such as Darth Vadar and Jabba The Hutt.
Last year Disney announced plans to buy Lucasfilm and make another Star Wars trilogy, starting with Star Wars: Episode VII and releasing Episode VIII and Episode IX two to three years apart. Recently Star Trek director J.J. Abrams was confirmed as director for Episode VII, which is expected to hit UK cinemas in 2015.
