Stellan Skarsgård confirms 'Thor 2' role
The Swedish actor confirms that he will reprise his role as Dr. Erik Selvig in the sequel
Stellan Skarsgård has confirmed that he will appear in Thor 2.
The Swedish actor played scientist Dr. Erik Selvig - mentor to Natalie Portman's character Jane Foster - in the 2011 superhero film. He then reprised the role in this year's blockbuster spin-off The Avengers.
Discussing his future filming plans with HeyUGuys, Skarsgård said: "I will try to combine Thor 2, which starts in August and goes to the end of December, with the new Lars Von Trier film."
The original Thor film, starring Chris Hemsworth as the titular Norse warrior, opened in cinemas last May and has since grossed $450 million (£290 million) worldwide. The sequel is scheduled for release on November 8, 2013.
Thor director Kenneth Branagh will not return for the sequel, which will instead be helmed by Alan Taylor, who has worked on Game Of Thrones and Mad Men. Hemsworth and Portman will reprise their roles from the first film, as will Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkins.
In May, Idris Elba also confirmed that he will return for the sequel. However, castmate Kat Dennings - who appeared in Thor as Jane Foster's hapless co-worker Darcy Lewis - has yet to confirm her role in the sequel.
