Stephen Fry to host 2014 BAFTA Awards

Stephen Fry is set to host 2014 British Academy Film Awards.

This will be the ninth time that Fry has hosted the ceremony, which is due to take place on February 16 at London's Royal Opera House, writes The Hollywood Reporter. Speaking about his role as host, Fry explained that he was "really thrilled and honored to have been asked to host the EE British Academy Film Awards again. Despite the nerves and terror that something might go wrong and that I'll make a fool of myself, it's an annual event I really look forward to."

He continued: "Film is one of the arts that most spreads the essence of our identity around the world, and our admiration and appreciation of global film-making ensures that the EE British Academy Film Awards sit comfortably on the world stage of film awards events honoring the best of the best".

Argo came out top at this year's BAFTAs by winning three awards. The film, a dramatisation of the CIA-led operation to release American hostages held captive in Iran during the 1980 revolution, won Best Picture, Best Editing and Ben Affleck picked up Best Director.

Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for Lincoln, while French actress Emmanuelle Riva was the surprise winner of the Best Actress award for her role in the subtitled film Amour. Les Misérables picked up four awards on the night, although three were in the production categories, including Prouction Design, Sound and Make Up & Hair. However, unsurprisingly, Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the musical film. Searching For Sugar Man won the Documentary prize, Life Of Pi won the Cinematography honour, Amour won Film Not In The English Language and Pixar's Brave won Best Animated film.
