Steven Spielberg hopes 'Tintin 2' will come out Christmas 2015

Steven Spielberg has revealed that he and Peter Jackson are have hoping to have Tintin 2 ready in time for Christmas 2015.

Released in 2011, The Adventures Of Tintin was directed by Spielberg using computer animation and motion-capture performances from actors including Daniel Craig, Andy Serkis and Jamie Bell. Jackson served as a producer on the film, which grossed over $373 million (£231 million) worldwide.

For the sequel, the filmmakers have essentially swapped roles. Spielberg told The Times Of India: "Peter Jackson is directing the next one, I'm producing. We have a script and we're going to start performance capture probably at the end of this year. Don't hold me to it, but we're hoping the film will come out around Christmas-time in 2015."

Spielberg's 2011 film had a script based on three of the original Adventures Of Tintin comic books by Belgian cartoonist Hergé. Discussing the sequel's storyline, Spielberg said: "We know which books we're making. We can't share that now but we're combining two books which were always intended to be combined by Hergé."

Spielberg's comments echo those made by Jackson at the end of last year (2012). In December, he revealed that he was planning to start work on Tintin 2 this year and have the film ready for a 2015 release.
