'Ted 2' aiming for April 2015 release, Seth MacFarlane says
Original starring Mark Wahlberg and a foul-mouthed teddy bear was a surprise smash last year (2012)
Seth MacFarlane has revealed that he is aiming to have Ted 2 ready for an April 2015 release.
Ted, which starred Mark Wahlberg opposite a foul-mouthed, hard-drinking teddy bear, was one of 2012's surprise box office successes. Written and directed by Family Guy creator MacFarlane, the R-rated comedy film grossed over $500 million (£310 million) worldwide.
Speaking back in January (2013), MacFarlane said that "everybody involved" was keen to make a sequel but admitted that "it has not been officially signed off on yet". However, MacFarlane now appears to have confirmed that Ted 2 is definitely in works by mentioning a tentative release date in response to a tweet from a fan.
In 2015, the Jewish festival of Passover begins in the evening of April 3 and ends in the evening of April 11, which presumably means MacFarlane is targeting an early April 2015 release date.
In the meantime, MacFarlane's second big screen directorial effort, a comedy western called A Million Ways To Die, will open in cinemas on May 30, 2014. MacFarlane also stars in the film, heading up an impressive ensemble cast that includes Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson, Sarah Silverman and Neil Patrick Harris.
