'The Big Bang Theory' to end in 2017?
Showrunner Steve Molaro hints at end of US sitcom after 10th season is over
The hit US sitcom follows the lives of a group of socially awkward university scientists and is currently airing its seventh season in the UK on E4.
However, showrunner Molaro has said that he thinks that the already commissioned 10th season will be the last fans see of characters Penny Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter, Howard Wolowitz and Raj Koothrappali. Speaking to Hollywood Reporter, the head of the sitcom said he has had no confirmation that things will end after 10 seasons but that he "would be okay" if that were to happen.
"I'm going to move forward [on the assumption] that ten is the end unless we're told otherwise," he is quoted as saying. "My concern is that we do it right and we end this show in a way that is as befitting of these characters that we respect and love," he said.
He continues: "As long as we can have the opportunity to end it in a way that serves them all properly, that's my concern - more than the number of seasons."
Earlier this year it was confirmed that Star Wars cast members James Earl Jones - who played the voice of Darth Vader - and Carrie Fisher - who played Princess Leia - are set to appear on a forthcoming episode in the seventh season.
