'The Dark Knight Rises' Blu-ray release date announced
Christopher Nolan's final Batman film will be available to buy before Christmas
The Dark Knight Rises will be available to buy in the UK and US before Christmas.
Warner Bros made the announcement by uploading a new trailer for the movie to YouTube. The final frame reads: "Look for it on Blu-ray and download to own". You can watch the new trailer at the bottom of this article.
A message posted below the video confirms that the movie will be available on both "Blu-Ray Combo Pack" and digital download from December 3, but the cover art and special features have yet to be revealed. Last week (September 13), sources close to Christopher Nolan denied rumours that the director had plans to include an extended director's cut on the Blu-Ray release.
However, there is potential for the home release to include deleted scenes explaining the origins of Tom Hardy's Bane character. Last month (August), the film's costume designer Lindy Hemming revealed that she worked on sequences showing how Bane came to wear his signature face mask and utility belt.
Since opening in cinemas in July this year (2012), The Dark Knight Rises has taken more than $1.058 billion (£650 million) at the box office worldwide, making it the ninth biggest film ever and the most successful of Nolan's three Batman films.
