'The King's Speech' director planning 'Les Miserables' remake

Tom Hooper is heading to musical theatre for next project

The King's Speech director Tom Hooper is set to make a big screen version of Les Miserables as his next project. The British director won an Oscar for his work on the smash hit period drama, and studios have been enthusiastically courting him to work with them next.

According to Deadline.com, Hooper is planning to make a full-on musical version of the stage production. Filming is be expected to start somewhere in Europe before the end of the year.

Les Miserables opened in London's West End in 1985, adapted from Victor Hugo's 1862 novel. It features the songs 'I Dreamed A Dream', 'On My Own' and 'Bring Him Home'.
