'The Wedding Singer' duo Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore to reunite for new rom-com

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are to revive their screen chemistry in a new romantic comedy film.

The pair starred together in two previous rom-coms, 1998's The Wedding Singer and 2004's 50 First Dates, both of which became hits at the box office. Barrymore also made an uncredited cameo appearance in Sandler's poorly-received 2011 film Jack And Jill.

The new movie, which is currently untitled, centres on a dating couple who get trapped at a family holiday resort where their kids from previous relationships are staying. Sandler has been attached to star for some time and last month (February), it was reported that Barrymore was "frontrunner" for the female lead.

Her role has now been confirmed by Variety and shooting is set to begin this May. The film will be directed by Frank Coraci, who helmed The Wedding Singer and went on to work with Sandler again on 1999's The Waterboy and 2006's Click.

Meanwhile, Sandler will next be seen alongside Chris Rock, Kevin James and Salma Hayek in Grown Ups 2, which he is also producing. The ensemble comedy sequel opens in UK cinemas on August 9 - scroll down and click 'play' to watch the teaser trailer.
