'The X Factor' final to be held in Manchester
Final of the ITV1 singing contest will be staged outside London for the first time
The final of The X Factor is to be held in Manchester this year (2012).
This will mark the first time that the show's live final has been staged outside London. The first seven X Factor finals were held at Fountain Studios in Wembley, West London - the home of the series's regular live shows. Last year (2011) the final moved to a larger venue for the first time, taking place at Wembley Arena.
This year's two-night final will take place at the Manchester Central Convention Complex, the show's producers have confirmed. Nearly half the tickets for the 11,000-capacity venue, which was formerly known as Gmex, will be distributed to fans via the show's sponsor, TalkTalk.
The new X Factor judging panel - Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Tulisa and Nicole Scherzinger - will travel to Manchester for the show's live final in December (2012). Walsh said in a statement: "Our Live Final is going to be another major event - so The X Factor 2012 has everything. I believe it's going to be our best series yet."
The new series of The X Factor begins this Saturday (August 18) at 8pm on ITV1. Scroll down to watch a promotional trailer for the series featuring past contestants Leona Lewis, One Direction, JLS, Alexandra Burke, Olly Murs and Little Mix.
