Tom Cruise made his Twitter debut yesterday (June 28) to unveil the trailer for his new movie Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

The new film will be his fourth appearance as special agent Ethan Hunt in the adventure series, and he used to the personal touch to give fans their first glimpse of the new film.

Cruise wrote: "In appreciation of your support 4 MI, I wanted 2share the new Mission Impossible #GhostProtocol trailer w/U... ThankU, Tom."

The page then linked to the movie's official site. Previously, the feed had only been updated by the actor's management team.

The epic trailer for Ghost Protocol sees Cruise's character hanging from the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, to a soundtrack of the Eminem and Pink collaboration 'Won't Back Down' from the rapper's album 'Recovery'. It also features cameos from co-stars Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner. You can watch it by clicking below.

Directed by Brad Bird and co-written by JJ Abrams, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol opens in the UK on Boxing Day, December 26.
