'Toy Story' confirmed to return for TV special this autumn (2013)
'Toy Story Of Terror' will air over Halloween on US network ABC
News of a spooky special called Toy Story Of Terror actually broke last October (2013), but further details have now been revealed. The 30-minute special will air on US network ABC over Halloween, TVGuide.com reports, though UK broadcast details have yet to be confirmed.
Producer Galyn Susman said of the special's premise: "Bonnie is on a road trip to go see grandma with her mom and the toys are in the trunk. Mom gets a flat tire and they have to spend the night at a motel and all kinds of chaos ensues."
The special will apparently give a more prominent role to Joan Cusack's Jessie, though Tom Hanks' Woody and Tim Allen's Buzz will be back too alongside Mr Potato Head and the rest of the gang.
Director Angus MacClane promised the special won't be too scary for kids, before adding: "I think we've done a good job of balancing staying true to Toy Story and staying true to the [horror] genre. As far as adults are concerned, I've always thought that we make these movies for ourselves. I think it's funny and like the other Toy Story films, I think there is plenty of stuff in there that only adults will get."
The pixelated playthings were last seen in 2010's Toy Story 3, which took over $1.06 billion (£660 million) at the box office worldwide and became the highest-grossing animated movie of all-time. It capped off this success by picking up a couple of Oscars the following year.
