'Tron 3' details revealed
Director Joseph Kosinski promises that sequel is still in the works
A sequel to 2010's Tron: Legacy is still in the works, the film's director has insisted.
Speaking to Assignment X, filmmaker Joseph Kosinski said that a third film in the Tron series was still in development and revealed that the follow-up picture would focus on the characters Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) and Quorra (Olivia Wilde).
"We're working on the story right now. Once we get a script we're all really happy with, we'll take it to the powers that be and see if we can go back to the Grid," he said.
"I think we will pick [up] with where Tron: Legacy left off with Quorra in the real world and what does that mean and the possibilities it opens up for the next chapter. It's the relationship between the two of them that's the next step."
Tron: Legacy opened to mixed reviews, but performed well at the box office, grossing over $400 million (£248 million) worldwide. The film was a belated sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic starring Jeff Bridges, who reprised his role and starred alongside Hedlund and Wilde in the 2010 follow-up.
