Smash supernatural sequel once again dwarfs competition from 'Arthur Christmas'

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 has retained the top spot at the UK box office for the second week running.

The supernatural sequel took over £4.5 million, dwarfing the rest of the competition. You can watch Robert Pattinson talking at the UK premiere by clicking on the video above.

Holding firm in second place is Aardman's festive comedy Arthur Christmas, taking over £2.5 million. Both films' seasonal success leaves My Week With Marilyn as the highest new entry at number three, taking under £1 million.

However the entire bottom half of the top ten were debuting films. But despite the star power of Daniel Craig and Brad Pitt, their new films Dream House and Moneyball only managed to open at numbers seven and ten respectively.

The UK box office top ten in full is:

1. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 - £4,574,978
2. Arthur Christmas - £2,526,285
3. My Week With Marilyn - £749,819
4. The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn - £712,398
5. Immortals - £534,163
6. 50/50 - £410,251
7. Dream House - £304,239
8. In Time - £258,840
9. Desi Boys - £243,792
10. Moneyball - £230,848
