'Twilight' star Kellan Lutz 'in talks' to join 'The Expendables 3'
Sly Stallone's golden oldies action sequel is due to start shooting next month (August)
Lutz, who played Emmett Cullen in the Twilight franchise, is "in early talks" to join Sylvester Stallone in the action sequel, reports The Wrap.
The Expendables 3 will apparently introduce a new, more youthful crew of action heroes who clash with Sly and his gang of golden oldies before the two posses join forces to save the day. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Jason Statham are all set to return, joined by newcomers Jackie Chan, Milla Jovovich and Wesley Snipes, though at the moment only Stallone's role is 100% confirmed.
Mel Gibson has also been linked to the new Expendables movie and is reportedly in the frame to play the main villain, though his casting hasn't been confirmed yet either.
The Expendables 3 is due to start shooting next month (August) with up-and-coming Aussie filmmaker Patrick Hughes in the director's chair. Stallone co-wrote the script with Richard Wenk, who was also his screenwriting partner on last year's The Expendables 2. Distributors Lionsgate have set a release date of August 15, 2014.
