'Twilight''s Bella Swan voted Britain's Favourite Movie Mum
Kristen Stewart's moody vampire wins poll
Twilight character Bella Swan has been named Britain's Favourite Movie Mum in a new poll.
The list, which was published by Empire, saw the vampire heroine played by actress Kristen Stewart come out on top, fending off competition from Meryl Streep's portrayal of Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia! and Molly Weasley, as played by Julie Walters, in the Harry Potter franchise.
Swan won the poll despite not being a mother in the majority of films in the Twilight franchise - she gives birth to her daughter Renesmee in the penultimate installment in the series, Breaking Dawn - Part 1.
In a similar list of Funniest Movie Mums, Marge Simpson took first place, with Streep's Donna Sheridan again coming in second and John Travlota's cross-dressing turn as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray in third. A poll of Most Embarrassing Movie Mums, meanwhile, saw Jennifer Coolidge's role as Stifler's Mom in the American Pie series take first place ahead of Marge Simpson and Donna Sheridan.
Stewart was rewarded with another, less-celebratory award last month for her role as Bella Swan - she was voted Worst Actress for her performance in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 at the Razzie Awards. The vampire franchise was the unlucky recipient of a further six awards, including Worst Director, Worst Supporting Actor for Taylor Lautner, Worst Screen Ensemble, Worst Sequel and Worst Screen Couple.
