'X-Men' star Patrick Stewart confesses to pizza-eating past
But he'd never ordered "a slice" before his legendary pizza tweet this Wednesday (May 29)
On Wednesday (May 29), the acting legend tweeted a picture of himself eating his "first ever pizza slice" at the age of 72. Within hours, it went viral.
Now the X-Men star has clarified his personal history with the popular Italian dish in an interview with Vulture. "People misunderstood. There was a school of thought that I had eaten my first pizza, but of course how could that possibly be true? I would have had to have stayed locked up in a cellar," he explained.

"But nevertheless, this was my first slice of pizza, which I was only eating because my fiancée and I were a little hung-over yesterday morning… when it was brought over to me, my first comment was 'there's no knife and fork'. Of course, I was mocked for thinking that I could eat a pizza slice with a knife and fork."
In a separate interview about his carby hangover cure with BBC Radio 4, Stewart revealed he kept things simple by ordering a slice of "plain cheese pizza, no meat - which I don't eat much of".
The margarita-loving actor will reprise his role as Professor Charles Xavier in the next X-Men film, Days Of Future Past, which went into production last month (April). It's set for release on July 18, 2014.
