Zooey Deschanel's sitcom 'New Girl' gets renewed for third season
The She & Him singer stars in the hit US series as a quirky schoolteacher called Jess
Zooey Deschanel's sitcom New Girl is to return for a third season.
US network Fox has recommissioned the flat-sharing comedy along with two of its other sitcoms, The Mindy Project and Raising Hope, Deadline reports.
New Girl stars She And Him's Deschanel as a kooky schoolteacher called Jess who moves in with three young men after a break-up. The show premiered on Fox in September 2011 and is already 18 episodes into its second season in the US.
In the UK, the show started life on Channel 4 before being moved to E4 midway through its first season. Season two is expected to begin on E4 later this month (March).
Meanwhile, Deschanel's indie-pop duo She And Him have recently announced that they will release a new album in May. Titled 'Volume 3', the album features their take on Blondie's 'Sunday Girl' along with several other cover versions and a bevy of original songs.
