Birmingham
There's more to Birmimgham than baltis and the Bullring. The epicentre of Birmingham's indie scene is the Flapper & Firkin, the venue that’s owned by ZoOt, the managers that brought us both Editors and The Twang. Clubland is buzzing as well, thanks to two startlingly hedonistic nights: Chicks Dig Jerks, a band-smattered rave-up, and Bigger Than Barry, a bass-heavy collision of scenes.
Alumni: Ozzy Osbourne, Johnny Foreigner, The Twang.
Pub fact: Now-defunct rock club Mothers (in Erdington) has a central place in rock history. Pink Floyd recorded much of their album 'Ummagumma' there, and The Who performed their musical 'Tommy' at the venue.
