Cardiff
Often regarded as an emo stronghold thanks to the likes of Lostprophets (actually from Pontrypridd, 12 miles to the north) and, more recently Kids In Glass Houses, Cardiff is in fact a broad church, musically speaking, in which you're as likely to come across the tweecore janglings of Los Campesinos! as the double kick-drum rumblings of the latest screamo kids in town.
Alumni: Super Furry Animals, Goldie Lookin Chain, Los Campesinos!
Pub fact: Coldplay's Jonny Buckland and Oasis' Andy Bell were both born in Cardiff.
