Dublin
Dublin's musical legend might seem to be dominated by U2, but right now the city has a surprisingly cutting-edge indie/dance crossover scene, exemplified by fashionista havens such as Radiator, which takes place every Tuesday at at The Hub. Meanwhile, the city's newfound confidence is underlined by the lairy attitude of aggro-popsters Fight Like Apes, probably the city’s most name-dropped new stars.
Alumni: U2, Sinead O'Connor, Damien Rice, Phil Lynott.
Pub fact: One of the city's best-loved pubs is Grogan's, a dishevelled boozer favoured by Bob Dylan and Bono when they're in town.
