The Ultimate Indie Guide To Leeds

Leeds

If the skewed pop strangeness of Wild Beasts is anything to go by, Leeds' scene is at an all-time high right now. The city went through a rough patch a few years ago, when Parva (the early incarnation of Kaiser Chiefs) and 10,000 Things (fronted by future 'Control' actor Sam Riley) were dropped by their respective labels. That experience led to the dawn of a new proactive DIY era in Leeds, the results of which are still being felt today.
Alumni: Kaiser Chiefs, Corinne Bailey Rae, The Pigeon Detectives.
Pub fact: Other famous people from Leeds include Jeremy Paxman and 'League Of Gentlemen' star Jeremy Dyson, who described it as a "very unimaginative place".
