The Ultimate Indie Guide To Southampton

Southampton

If you’re a music junkie seeking a place with a wide array of alternative scenes and a good sense of humour, you’ve come to the right city. Southampton has paved many paths of gold and it all began in a small, murky venue called The Joiners Arms. Situated in the heart of the red light district, a number of bands have arrived over the years who ring a bell. Oasis, Primal Scream, Ash, Skunk Anansie and Radiohead have all played there, and the venue still welcomes all the best new talent today. So dig out that rock and roll demeanour and get ready to swagger your way through the hedonistic, Sotonian way of life.
Alumni: Delays, Craig David.
Pub fact: One of Southampton's most famous sons is Coldplay drummer Will Champion, whose parents both used to teach at the city's University.
