K so NME might have a great musical heritage that stretches back over 50 years, but master distiller Jack Daniel was there waaaay before us. Since right back in 1892, when he formed the Silver Cornet Band with some buddies, Jack Daniel's and quality music have gone hand-in-hand, and 2008 is no exception.
This year's Birthday JD Set boasts an eclectic mix of vocalists with diverse musical backgrounds making a totally unique collaboration for Jack's birthday celebration. These artists would never normally appear on the same bill, let alone the same stage. The line up this year includes Tim Wheeler(Ash), Roisin Murphy, House of Lords (Young Knives) and Hugh Cornwall (The Stranglers).
They'll each perfom a selection of unforgettable solos and one off collaborations backed by 'The New Silver Cornet Band' which is put together as a celebration of Mr Jack's original Silver Cornet Band formed by the man himself in 1892. The 'New Silver Cornet Band' is made up of seven world-class session musicians from Tennessee. The band performs together just once a year for the Jack Daniel's Birthday JD Set.
An intimate audience of just 200 music fans are invited to this once in a lifetime gig. It's easy to see why the Birthday JD Set has become such a magical moment in rock history with its innovative and unique collaborations. When the music starts at sunset on Barbecue Hill overlooking the small town of Lynchburg & the distillery below you know you're in for a once in a lifetime musical memory to treasure forever.
