About This Release:
On his new album 'Step Thru', released mid October on rx:tx, French producer Fulgeance showcases his unique take on instrumental hip hop, focusing on the key elements that make people move - the track's rhythmic swing, its bass melodies and haunting melodies. Add to that two vocal cuts featuring Brooklyn MC Fresh Daily and Yinka, from Greece, the Frenchman furthers his self-coined brand of hip hop meets electro, Low Club. The last track on the album is a remix by the british beatssmith Kelpe.
How low can you go? French producer Fulgeance answers this eternal question with his second album in the space of one year, Step Thru. Having come to prominence in the late 00s as one of the more distinctive and entertaining voices in the new beat scene, Fulgeance then cheekily christened his own brand of hip hop meets electro and party friendly sounds Low Club. Fulgeance's hip hop roots are visible throughout Step Thru, most notably on the album's two vocal cuts. Whut It Iz features Brooklyn MC Fresh Daily for a bumping and lurid transatlantic collaboration built on a sturdy riddim that balances neon bright melodies with darker bass lines. On the other side is Break Them Down with Yinka, a Greek MC. On the rest of the album Fulgeance further showcases his unique instrumental style, returning to a simpler production approach that strips back the unnecessary and focuses on the key elements that make people move.
